My Little Extrovert

At some point back in college I came across a new definition for extrovert and introvert.

Extrovert: Someone that recharges themself by being with other people.

Introvert: Someone that recharges themself by being alone.

It really struck a chord for me, because while I never considered myself an extrovert, neither could I identify with myself as a socially awkward and reclusive introvert. By this new definition I could embrace my introvertedness, despite enjoying parties. I just understood why I always needed some downtime afterwards. I have extroverted friends, but I've learned to make sure I get a break from them sometimes, because otherwise I start to feel really drained.

Just this week I finally decided my daughter is an extrovert. I wish I would have thought of it sooner because it would explain a lot. Maybe all little kids are extroverts, but it seems like I've seen other kids happily playing on their own. Mine doesn't do that. It explains why I'm so tired at the end of the day. Physically yes, but mentally too. Here's a conversation we have at least every 30 minutes:

Mama?
Yes?
Umm.. Mama?
Yes?
Umm, I was, um, are you listening?
Yes. What is it?
Mama?
OMIGOSH STOP SAYING MAMA!!
Don't say that to me! You said mad words to me.
Okay, you're right. I'm sorry. What did you want to tell me?
Mama?

I have to admit my new guilty pleasure is that I'm really enjoying the relative peace and quiet at work.

Like Turbo when little Bear is not awake yet (because Turbo is nicknamed Turbo for a reason...)

Setting: Mom, early morning, honestly how much earlier do I need to wake up to get a quiet cup of coffee early morning, bordering on dawn, trying to drink coffee.

Scenario: Out of nowhere Turbo zooms in like the little Mazda sport engine he is, zoom zoom.

"HI MOM"
"Ugh."
"Is that coffee?"
"mm"
"Lets think about things."
"umm. coffee."
"No. Lets think about hmmm lets think..." (Taps his chin, taps my shoulder..
"I GOT IT."
"mmmhmmm."
"Mom. Listen. You need to talk about things. Lets talk about ANIMALS."
"Mommy doesn't want to."
"You have to."
"I want to drink my coffee."
"Okay."
pause... sip.. sip..si...
"Okay lets talk about things now...like trains"

AHHHHHHH

p.s. cutely enough, Turbo now actually calls Bear Bear in RL> So cute.

p.p.s. Bear is not an early morning Bear. Mommy envies Bear sometimes.

okay and i have to comment twice, because I think it's hilarious you got in trouble for saying mean mad words to Liv. Naughty Mommy.
And thats such a cute photo.

And I can see Liv being an extrovert. Turbo is crazy extroverted. Sadly, though. He has like NO stranger fear. Or qualms about going up to their back porch and sitting in their nice chair asking for cookies....

...help me....

OH i moved back to Turbo. I do despair. But Liv is soooo cute now. She's so big! I miss you guys!

Ha ha..I definitely have one extrovert (Zack) and one introvert (Bryce). I think I'm a little of both. I love the conversation though...
